| The solo concert activity of Bena Havlů is not a mere experiment. She was inspiret
by the inventor of the xylophone Josef Michal Guzikov (1806 Shklov - 1837 Aachen)
a Polish virtuoso who played on a concert-four-row xylophone. He brought the instrument,
which he himself created, to the concert stage and dazzled the whole Europe of the day.
Bena Havlů decided to play the four-row xylophone too, and later to add the fifth row.
The first teacher who taught Bena Havlů to play xylophone was her father František
Havlovec - a VHŠ graduate and professional musician.Prof.A.Sarauer taught her the
piano. Already by the age of six she was performing as soloist in concert to the
accompaniment of piano or orchestra - but solo, too. Later on celebrated duo xylophon
- piano (Havlů - Rod) greatest success - so at home as overseas. From 1999 give
Bena Havlů exclusively concerts xylophon solo. She plays all her repertoire by heart.
Her current way of playing the xylophone is influenced fundamentally by her longtime
cooperation with the conductor MgA.Jiří Kubica (the disciple of prof.Vilém Petrželka
and prof.Václav Talich). Jiří Kubica is responsible for the compositions-arangement.
Bena Havlů introduces, in her full-length recitals, the compositions composed for
xylophone by composers such as: T.Mayuzumi, O.Lacerda, H.Helfritz, R.Rod etc.
and transcriptions by composers: J.S.Bach, N.Paganini, A.Stamic, B.Martinů,
I.Stravinskij etc.
